Cooker repairs across Nottingham

When the cooker goes, the whole kitchen grinds to a halt. We fix oven, grill, hob, ignition and control faults on freestanding and range cookers across Nottingham and nearby towns. What we can take on depends on the exact model and whether it runs on gas, electric or both, so we check before we book. Gas cookers are only ever seen by a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Stop using a cooker with cracked door or hob glass, bare or damaged wiring, a burning smell, smoke, or one that keeps tripping the electrics. If you smell gas, don’t touch switches, flames or the cooker: get out and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

Tell us which oven, ring, burner, grill, display or setting is playing up, and whether it happens all the time or now and then. Please don’t take off panels or burners, or touch the gas connection.

Common cooker faults.

One symptom can have several causes. The engineer tests before recommending a part, so you only pay for what’s actually needed.

  1. Cooker not heating

The oven, grill or a hob ring stays cold, or a gas burner won’t stay lit.

    Usual causes
On electric cookers, failed elements, switches or thermostats. On gas cookers, flame safety devices, thermocouples or valves, which need a Gas Safe engineer.
    Safe to check first
On an electric cooker, check the clock is set and the cooker switch is on. On a gas cooker, don’t keep relighting a burner that won’t stay lit.

  2. Cooker ignition fault

Clicking without lighting, clicking that won’t stop, or a burner that only lights with a match.

    Usual causes
Wet or dirty spark plugs after a spill, burner caps out of place, a faulty ignition switch or spark generator.
    Safe to check first
Make sure the burner caps sit flat and the hob is dry after cleaning. If you smell gas, don’t touch any switches: get out and call 0800 111 999.

  3. Cooker control fault

Dead knobs, a blank display or settings that won’t stick.

    Usual causes
Selector and energy-regulator switches, wiring, sensors or the timer and control board.
    Safe to check first
Check the child lock is off and the clock is set. If nothing comes on at all, check the cooker switch and the fuse box.

  4. Something else wrong with the cooker?

Grill out, door won’t close, fan noisy or a hob ring stuck on full? Tell us whether it runs on gas, electric or both.

    Usual causes
Grill elements, door hinges and seals, cooling fans, hob switches and wiring.
    Safe to check first
Stop using any part that smells of burning or gas, or that has cracked glass, and leave the cooker where it is.

How we price a cooker repair. No surprises.

Two separate figures, both agreed with you before any work, and the last word is always yours.

  1. Labour

    Fixed, and shown online.

One figure for finding the fault and doing the repair, based on the appliance, how it’s fitted and your postcode.

  2. Parts

    Only if one’s needed.

The engineer tells you what and how much first, using genuine or OEM parts wherever possible.

  3. Your call

    Fix it, or don’t.

If age, condition or the total bill means a new cooker makes more sense, you’ll hear it before any parts are ordered.

Fuel, weight and getting it out

Let us know whether it’s electric, gas or dual fuel, and the model if you have it. Range cookers are heavy, so mention steps, narrow doorways, flooring worth protecting or tight corners on the way in, and leave the moving to us.

The labour price covers diagnosis and repair for work we’ve confirmed we can do. Parts are priced first, using genuine or OEM parts wherever possible, and the engineer weighs up age, condition and the full bill before recommending a repair.

What you can count on.

The same three things on every job, whichever appliance it is.

  • Quick when we can be

Same-day or next-day visits whenever an engineer is free near you. We’ll always tell you the real first slot.

  • Trained and kitted out

Experienced engineers with stocked vans, carrying the tools and the parts that fail most often.

  • Proper parts

Genuine or OEM parts wherever possible. If the right one is on the van, the job can be finished there and then.

Cooker repair questions

What does cooker repair cost in Nottingham?

Pick the cooker, its make and fitting, add your postcode, and the labour price shows straight away. Cooker parts vary a lot, so any part is priced separately and fitted only once you agree.

Why does my cooker heat unevenly?

An element, thermostat, fan or control can all cause it. Tell us which oven or ring is affected and share the model when you book, so we can send the right engineer.

When is a new cooker better than a repair?

When it’s old, the parts are expensive or the repair would cost close to a replacement. The engineer will put both options side by side so you can choose.
