Washing machine repairs across Nottingham
A washing machine that stops halfway with a drum full of water can ruin a morning. We fix machines that won’t fill, heat, drain or spin, leak on the floor, refuse to unlock, or trip the electrics. Freestanding or built in, we cover the big names, in homes right across Nottingham and nearby towns.
Got a washer dryer? Book it as a washer dryer, even if only the washing side has packed in, and tell us whether the fault shows up when it’s washing, drying or both.
The same symptom can have several causes. A machine that stops mid-cycle might have a blocked filter, a tired pump, a faulty door lock, a failed heater or a control fault. Tell us the error code and roughly where in the programme it gives up, and the engineer will test from there instead of guessing.
If it’s leaking, smells of burning or trips the fuse box, switch it off if you safely can and leave it be. Don’t take panels off, and don’t drag a built-in machine out of its cabinet.
Common washing machine faults.
One symptom can have several causes. The engineer tests before recommending a part, so you only pay for what’s actually needed.
Washing machine not draining
Price this repairWater sitting in the drum at the end of a wash means it can’t get out. Most of the time it’s a blockage rather than a dead machine.
- Usual causes
- A clogged pump filter, a coin or sock in the pump, a kinked or blocked drain hose, a blocked sink trap or standpipe, or a failed drain pump.
- Safe to check first
- Make sure the drain hose isn’t squashed behind the machine and the sink trap it runs into is clear. If you’re happy to, empty the filter behind the small hatch at the bottom front, with towels down: there will be water.
- Codes you might see
- Bosch and Siemens show E18, Samsung 5E, 5C or SE, LG OE, and older Hotpoint and Indesit machines F05. Tell us the exact code on yours.
Washing machine not spinning
Price this repairWashes but leaves the clothes soaking. The machine may be protecting itself from an uneven load, or something in the drive has given up.
- Usual causes
- An unbalanced load, water that hasn’t drained, a worn or snapped belt, worn motor brushes, a faulty motor or tacho sensor, or a control fault.
- Safe to check first
- Try a spin-only cycle with a few mixed items rather than one heavy towel or a duvet, and make sure a no-spin or delicates setting isn’t selected.
- Codes you might see
- LG shows UE, Samsung UE or Ub. If it won’t drain either, the drain codes above often show first. Tell us the exact code on yours.
Washing machine leaking
Price this repairWater on the floor needs dealing with straight away. Switch the machine off at the plug if it’s safe to reach, and turn off the tap behind it.
- Usual causes
- A split door seal, a filter cap that isn’t screwed home, too much detergent foaming out of the drawer, a loose or worn hose, or a leaking pump or tub seal.
- Safe to check first
- Look for a sock or underwire caught in the door seal, check the filter cap is tight and cut back on detergent. Leave panels on and the machine where it is.
- Codes you might see
- Samsung shows LE or LC when it senses a leak, and LG shows FE when it has overfilled. Tell us the exact code on yours.
Something else wrong with the washing machine?
Price this repairWon’t fill, won’t unlock, won’t heat, trips the electrics or makes a new noise? Tell us what it’s doing and when in the programme it happens.
- Usual causes
- Door locks, inlet valves, heaters, drum bearings, pressure sensors and control boards account for most of the other faults we see.
- Safe to check first
- If the door is locked with water inside, don’t force it. If it trips the electrics or smells of burning, switch it off and leave it unplugged.
- Codes you might see
- LG shows dE for a door fault and IE for no water coming in. Samsung uses 4E or 4C for water supply and dE or dC for the door; Bosch shows E17 for water supply. Tell us the exact code on yours.

How we price a washing machine repair. No surprises.
Two separate figures, both agreed with you before any work, and the last word is always yours.
- Labour
Fixed, and shown online.
One figure for finding the fault and doing the repair, based on the appliance, how it’s fitted and your postcode.
- Parts
Only if one’s needed.
The engineer tells you what and how much first, using genuine or OEM parts wherever possible.
- Your call
Fix it, or don’t.
If age, condition or the total bill means a new washing machine makes more sense, you’ll hear it before any parts are ordered.
Where the machine lives matters
In older terraces, the washer is often in a back kitchen, a cellar or even an outhouse. In newer homes it’s usually built in under the worktop. Let us know which, and mention stairs, a narrow passage, stacked appliances or fiddly plumbing, so the engineer brings the right kit.
If a part is needed, you’ll get the price first, and we use genuine or OEM parts wherever possible. The engineer also weighs up the machine’s age and condition and the full bill, so you can decide whether it’s worth fixing.
What you can count on.
The same three things on every job, whichever appliance it is.
Quick when we can be
Same-day or next-day visits whenever an engineer is free near you. We’ll always tell you the real first slot.
Trained and kitted out
Experienced engineers with stocked vans, carrying the tools and the parts that fail most often.
Proper parts
Genuine or OEM parts wherever possible. If the right one is on the van, the job can be finished there and then.

Washing machine repair questions
What does washing machine repair cost in Nottingham?
Pick the machine, its make and how it’s fitted, add your postcode, and the labour price shows on screen. That covers finding the fault and doing the repair. If a part is needed, it’s priced separately and only fitted if you say yes.
My washing machine is ten years old. Is it worth fixing?
Often, yes. Pumps, door locks, belts and heaters are everyday repairs. If the drum bearings have gone or the bill would come close to a new machine, the engineer will tell you straight, before you pay for any parts.
Can you fix a washing machine that’s built into the kitchen?
Yes. Choose the integrated option when you get your price and it will include the time to take the machine out and put it back. Please leave it in place for the engineer.
