Tumble dryer repairs across Nottingham

A dryer that tumbles cold air, won’t turn or needs three cycles for a load of towels is costing you money every time it runs. We fix dryers with no heat, a stuck drum, slow drying, airflow problems, odd noises, and control, sensor and error-code faults. Vented, condenser and heat-pump dryers all work differently, so we ask which you have.

Take dryer faults seriously. Switch off and unplug a dryer that overheats, smells of burning, smokes or trips the electrics, if you can do it safely. Keep the door shut if there’s smoke, and call 999 if there’s a fire. Don’t run it again to see if it clears.

Clean the lint filter and, if your manual shows how, the condenser, but leave the covers on. Note whether the drum turns, the air gets warm and water collects in the tank, and any error code.

Common tumble dryer faults.

One symptom can have several causes. The engineer tests before recommending a part, so you only pay for what’s actually needed.

  1. Tumble dryer not heating

The drum turns but blows cold air, so clothes come out as wet as they went in.

    Usual causes
A failed heater, a tripped thermal cut-out or thermostat, a blocked vent that overheated it, or a fault in a heat pump’s sealed system.
    Safe to check first
Clean the lint filter, empty the water container and, for a vented dryer, make sure the hose isn’t kinked or crushed. Heat-pump dryers run cooler by design.

  2. Tumble dryer drum not turning

It powers up and may hum, but the drum doesn’t move.

    Usual causes
A snapped drive belt, a worn tension pulley, a failed motor or capacitor, a door switch or a control fault.
    Safe to check first
Make sure the door is firmly shut and the child lock is off. Tell us whether you hear a hum, a click or nothing at all.

  3. Tumble dryer taking too long

Two or three cycles to dry one load. Slow drying is often airflow, but it can be a failing heater or sensor.

    Usual causes
A clogged lint filter or condenser, a long or crushed vent hose, a worn heater, a faulty moisture sensor, or a heat pump that has lost efficiency.
    Safe to check first
Clean the filter after every load, rinse the condenser if your model has one and don’t overload the drum. Clothes spun at a higher speed in the washer dry faster.

  4. Something else wrong with the tumble dryer?

Noisy, stopping mid-cycle, ‘empty water’ or ‘clean filter’ lights that won’t go off? Tell us the make and what it’s doing.

    Usual causes
Drum bearings and rollers, pumps on condenser models, door switches, sensors and control boards.
    Safe to check first
If the dryer smells of burning or gets hot on the outside, switch it off at the wall and don’t use it again until it has been checked.

How we price a tumble dryer repair. No surprises.

Two separate figures, both agreed with you before any work, and the last word is always yours.

  1. Labour

    Fixed, and shown online.

One figure for finding the fault and doing the repair, based on the appliance, how it’s fitted and your postcode.

  2. Parts

    Only if one’s needed.

The engineer tells you what and how much first, using genuine or OEM parts wherever possible.

  3. Your call

    Fix it, or don’t.

If age, condition or the total bill means a new tumble dryer makes more sense, you’ll hear it before any parts are ordered.

Which dryer, and where it lives

Tell us whether yours is vented, condenser or heat pump, and whether it’s stacked on a washer, built in, or out in a garage or outhouse. Mention a fixed vent through the wall, a cabinet or tight sides, rather than pulling it out yourself.

The labour price covers diagnosis and repair. Belts, heaters, sensors, motors and other parts are priced first, using genuine or OEM parts wherever possible. The engineer will factor in the dryer’s age, efficiency and the full bill before recommending a repair.

What you can count on.

The same three things on every job, whichever appliance it is.

  • Trained and kitted out

  • Proper parts

Genuine or OEM parts wherever possible. If the right one is on the van, the job can be finished there and then.
